The Syracuse University Alumni Association (SUAA) takes great pride and pleasure in recognizing the commitment and accomplishments of the alumni of Syracuse University. Each year, SUAA, through the Awards Committee of the SUAA Board of Directors, selects recipients to be honored with the following special awards. 

Alumni Awards
The George Arents Pioneer Medal was established in 1939 with a gift from a University trustee, George Arents, and is the highest award given to alumni. It is presented jointly by SUAA and the University and honors alumni who have achieved excellence in their field of endeavor and who have demonstrated distinctive merit and steadfast loyalty to the ideals of the University.  The award is presented annually at on-campus and off-campus venues.  To view  the names of previous recipients of the Award, please click here: Past award recipients.

The Melvin A. Eggers Senior Alumni Award was created by Chancellor William P. Tolley  in honor of his successor, Chancellor Melvin A. Eggers. It recognizes senior alumni who have demonstrated loyalty and service to their alma mater. The nominees must already have celebrated their 50th class reunion. The Outstanding Alumni Award honors alumni for service and loyalty to their alma mater. It offers the opportunity to recognize not only the prominent achievers, but also the unsung "champions" for outstanding service to the University. The award may also acknowledge their civic and career achievements. Examples of service include, but are not limited to, volunteering as a club or council leader, serving on a university advisory board, or otherwise supporting the needs and goals of the University and its community. The Outstanding Young Alumni Award honors alumni who have graduated within the past 15 years for their service and loyalty to their alma mater. The award recognizes   outstanding service to the University, and may also acknowledge civic and career achievements. Examples of service include, but are not limited to, volunteering as a club or council leader, serving on a university advisory board, or otherwise supporting the needs and goals of the University and its community. To nominate alumni for one or more of these awards, please click here.  Select the award for which the nomination is being made and complete and submit the nomination form. If you have additional supporting documents, please e-mail them to sualumni@syr.edu; mail them to Office of Alumni Relations, Syracuse University, 401 University Place, Syracuse, NY 13244-3020; or fax them to 315-443-5645.  Deadline for 2009 nominations is November 15, 2008.
